Is there a limit to the number of players that can join?
· Reply · 18 May '19 at 14:38
8 - 16 - 32 players. We just do one click, the app will manage everything for us.
· Reply · 18 May '19 at 14:43
I mean we do have a limit to the courts we can book right? Have we called up any courts to see if they have that many courts for that many hours?
· Reply · 18 May '19 at 14:46
I guess we will decide the format depending on how many players are interested. If it’s 8 it will easily fit in 1 day. If 16 it could as well depending on how many courts we have available. If more players, the first round could be played before hand or we could split it in 2 days. It’s a beta tourney so please feel free to post any suggestions here.

The maximum court we need are 3 courts, and with the playing time will start from 10.00 A.M to 3 P.M which is always available as well.

Hi Oam and Greg and everyone who’s playing the tournament this weekend. I was thinking about the tournament and I just wanted to see if this format might work better than a traditional draw type of tournament since it will also be very hot most likely that day and also have people of different ages and fitness. If we have 12 people, we can split them up into 3 groups of 4 people. They play round robin matches of just one set each (so that helps with the heat factor and fitness factor). If we have 3 courts so if each set lasts not more than 45 mins then you can probably get thru 3 matches in 3 courts (9 matches) in not more than 3 hours. Then the best player of each group (3 players) also play a round robin (2 matches). The best player wins first group of the tournament. Then the second best of each group (3 players) also play a round robin (2 matches). The best player wins the second group of the tournament. We can probably get thru this round of matches also within 2 hours in time for your 4pm. I think this way it keeps the matches really fast and also players get to meet and play many players too and also can counter the fact that it will probably be 40 degrees so one set per match is probably more than enough for many of us. Sorry for the long post and hope to hear comments from others to see if this might work for everyone this weekend. Thank you ?

If play knock out we can play 8, if RR play 6 is more suitable. However, play RR needs longer court-time, and half day would not be enough in my opinion. I can't imagine people play 5 matches a day with RR. Most would be dead before tourney is finished ???

That's a lot of tennis Yat. Not all of us has power like yours. Not me for sure ? Anyhow, let's see how others say
· Reply · 22 May '19 at 14:46
Reza, I still think you are misunderstanding, I mean everyone plays 3 sets total not 3 sets per match. Each match is only one set. So you get to play 3 sets against 3 players, (1 set each)
· Reply · 22 May '19 at 14:52
So everyone gets to play 3 sets in all. Only the number on and number 2 players of each group gets to play the last 2 round robins which is only 2 sets total with 2 players (again 1 set each only) So the ultimate winner only plays 5 sets in the whole day
· Reply · 22 May '19 at 14:54
So when I meant each set lasts not more than 40 mins I meant a whole match between one player won’t last more than 40 mins max
· Reply · 22 May '19 at 14:56
And we put 2 seeded players in each group which means, each player gets to play 2 seeded player and someone non seeded to make it interesting for the weaker and stronger players.
· Reply · 22 May '19 at 14:59
I understand clearly about 1 set a match, Yat. Best of 3 is clearly illogical ?? but 1 match could last 1 hour or longer actually. Unless you don't let us break between games which is not possible. And play 5 sets a day is too much for many, including me ?
· Reply · 22 May '19 at 15:00
Yeah ok, just wanted to make sure everyone understands the format I am proposing clearly and let’s see what others think and also the organizers. ?
· Reply · 22 May '19 at 15:06
Thanks Yat for giving it some thoughts and your suggestion for a round robin format is indeed interesting. However since we haven’t set the rules before hand, I think it is important that the format chosen can accommodate every players. It seems Reza is not really keen in playing the RR format so if that’s the case we will probably stick to the K.O format. Again let’s hear what other players think. (Personally, either format is fine with me)
· Reply · 22 May '19 at 15:27
Greg, I follow what most players prefer. I don't mind playing either format
· Reply · 22 May '19 at 15:36
Reza, you are right! ?? I guess it does come out to be 6 matches from the draw they made. I apologize for my mistake ?
· Reply · 22 May '19 at 17:04
I guess we might need to consider something even shorter than a standard set of we need to get thru 18 matches ??
· Reply · 22 May '19 at 17:08
But I guess it still achieves everyone getting 3 matches each in some form
· Reply · 22 May '19 at 17:09
I don't think we should play K.O because then half the people will only get to play one match, not much of a tournament. Yat's suggested format will be tough for the player(s) who make it through to the end, but then that's the point - if you want to win you have to beat the most players. I think if we have 12 on the day it will be easy to draw four groups of three, then Q/Fs, S/FS, and a final. 3rd place in each group get two matches, Q/F losers get three, S/F losers get four, the finalists get five. We could just do S/Fs and a final to make it a bit easier.
· Reply · 22 May '19 at 21:05
We need at least 20 hours court time
· Reply · 22 May '19 at 21:38
Sure if most players want to play RR we will figure it out and if we don’t have enough time and courts I guess we will play the finals another day.
· Reply · 22 May '19 at 22:20
Guys !! The drawsheet has been done. Check it out !!
· Reply · 23 May '19 at 08:45
Hi Greg, I just noticed the rules said 8 games per match with no deuce. Is that the final or considering the number of matches maybe scaled down to just a normal 6 games set with one deuce scoring?

FYI total court fee will be 250 Baht per player for the day and each player should bring 2 cans of new balls. Thank you!
· Reply · 24 May '19 at 19:49
· Reply · 24 May '19 at 19:59
Ok so finally we will bring 17 cans of balls so no need for the players to bring balls.
· Reply · 24 May '19 at 22:29
And we got 1 more court from 3 to 4pm
· Reply · 24 May '19 at 22:29
So total for the court will be 270 baht each and 225 for the balls
· Reply · 24 May '19 at 22:31
A total of 500 baht per player (to simplify) so to run the tournament
