The Liga.Tennis platform has two ranking systems: "Ranking" and "Race" (Points). Both are calculated using our ranking formula, which considers how highly ranked your opponent is and how easy or difficult the match was, based on the score.
Liga.Tennis Ranking
For the Liga.Tennis Ranking, only your last 24 results from the past year count, based on a rolling 6-month system. Any matches played more than 6 months ago will not be counted.
Each Tuesday (we chose this day because many amateur tournaments run on weekends, and organizers typically submit results on Sunday and Monday), our system calculates a sum of ranking points from the last 24 matches of each player and updates the player’s ranking.
Liga.Tennis Race (Points)
The Liga.Tennis Race starts on January 1st and runs throughout the calendar year. You can collect as many points as possible until the last day of the year and be ranked based on total points.
The Liga.Tennis Ranking Formula
For every match played on Liga.Tennis, each player receives points depending on the match format:
- 3-set match: win = 10 points, lose = 4 points.
- 3-set match (up to 4 games): win = 7 points, lose = 2.8 points.
- 1-set match: win = 5 points, lose = 2 points.
For regular matches, each player will receive additional bonus points if:
-
They beat a player with a higher ranking:
- +14 points: difference more than 150 points
- +12 points: difference from 120 to 150 points
- +10 points: difference from 100 to 120 points
- +9 points: difference from 90 to 100 points
- +8 points: difference from 80 to 90 points
- +7 points: difference from 70 to 80 points
- +6 points: difference from 60 to 70 points
- +5 points: difference from 50 to 60 points
- +4 points: difference from 40 to 50 points
- +3 points: difference from 30 to 40 points
- +2 points: difference from 20 to 30 points
- +1 point: if the difference is more than 10 points
-
They beat a player with the same ranking (when the points difference is less than 10 points):
- Lost < 3 games = 3 additional points
- Lost < 6 games = 2 additional points
- Lost < 9 games = 1 additional point
- Note: This amount is for regular 3-set matches. For other formats, players receive fewer additional points. For example, for a 1-set match, a player might receive 1.5, 1, and 0.5 points, respectively.
-
They lose to a player with the same ranking:
- Won > 3 games = 0.5 point
- Won > 6 games = 1 point
- Won > 9 games = 2 points
For matches within a tournament:
Starting with the second round in a tournament, each player receives a 10% bonus to match points. For example, if player A gets 10 points for a win in a regular match, they will get 11 points in the second round (10 + 10%), and 12.1 points in the third round ((10 + 10%) + 10%), and so on.
If, during your last 24 matches, you play more than 3 matches against the same opponent (except tournament matches), you will not earn any points starting from the 4th match. However, the match result can be updated and will be saved for your Head2Head record with that opponent.
Every January 1st, Race points will be reset to 0.
